About This Trip

Itinerary

  • Assemble at the Manali base camp where you meet your trek leaders, complete safety briefings, and receive packed lunch.
  • Embark on an exhilarating 40-minute drive navigating 42 hairpin bends up to Jobra.
  • From Jobra, begin your trek alongside the cascading Rani River, traversing lush mixed forests of pine, oak, and birch.
  • Arrive at the scenic green riverside campsite of Chikka, settle into your alpine tents, and relax under the serene mountain canopy.
  • Begin your 9 km gradual ascent through the breathtaking Kullu Valley toward Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft).
  • The route takes you along boulder-strewn terrain, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildflower beds beneath towering Himalayan peaks like Deo Tibba.
  • Brave bone-chilling glacial stream crossings that awaken your senses.
  • Reach the expansive sandy riverbed of Balu Ka Ghera by afternoon, followed by hot mountain snacks, dinner, and an evening acoustic jam session under star-studded skies.
  • The grand summit day!
  • Start early for the steep, zig-zag alpine climb to the majestic Hampta Pass standing at 14,100 ft. At the crest, witness the dramatic crossover contrast—the lush, mist-draped green valleys of Kullu meeting the raw, barren, cold desert mountains of Lahaul & Spiti.
  • After soaking in panoramic views of Indrasan and Deo Tibba, begin a careful, steady descent into the tranquil, emerald meadows of Shea Goru for an overnight riverside camp.
  • Wake up in the tranquil Shea Goru valley and negotiate a cold-water river crossing before descending through barren rocky gorges toward Chatru.
  • After arriving at Chatru, drop heavy luggage and board rugged 4x4 vehicles for an adventurous high-altitude road journey to the mystical Chandratal (The Moon Lake at 14,100 ft).
  • Spend time admiring the shifting turquoise waters reflecting towering peaks before driving back to Chatru basecamp for dinner and tent stay.
  • Savor a wholesome breakfast at the Chatru campsite before boarding the return transport at 8:00 AM.
  • Experience an adventurous off-road mountain drive through Chandra Valley, passing Gramphu and crossing through the iconic 9.02 km Atal Tunnel beneath the Rohtang Ridge.
  • Arrive back at Manali by afternoon, marking the grand finale of your Himalayan crossover expedition with lifelong memories and strong mountain bonds.
