The roads are rugged, but our trip lead and drivers handled everything so smoothly. Warm homestays, great food, and amazing group vibes throughout. Truly grateful to the Awara Banjara team!"
Kashmir Slow-Paced Expedition
Srinagar – Doodhpathri – Pahalgam – Gulmarg – Sonmarg – Srinagar
About This Trip
Step away from the rushed tourist trails and embrace the true nomadic spirit with the Awara Banjara Kashmir Slow-Paced Expedition (8 Days / 7 Nights). Designed for free-spirited explorers who believe that the magic of the mountains lies in lingering, this immersive journey lets you experience the soul of paradise at your own pace.
From the historic, willow-shaded banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar to the lush, milk-fed meadows of Doodhpathri, every stop is crafted for deep connection rather than checklist tourism. Wander through the fragrant apple orchards of Pahalgam, stand in awe before the dramatic peaks of Aru and Betaab valleys, and glide through the snowy realms of Gulmarg on a thrilling Gondola ride. Feel the raw energy of the alpine winds at the golden meadows of Sonmarg, and slow down your heartbeat with cozy evenings under starlit skies.
True to our Banjara philosophy, this isn’t just a group tour; it’s a journey where strangers become a tight-knit mountain tribe and local stories replace guidebooks. Your experience includes comfortable stays in handpicked hotels and a traditional wooden houseboat, private transport with expert local drivers, and a dedicated Trip Captain who serves as your storyteller and resident photographer.

FAQs
We aren't a traditional travel agency; we are a community. Our trips focus on slow travel, local stories, and building a "hype squad" on the road. Expect raw beauty, offbeat trails, and a group of strangers who leave as family.
Our typical tribe consists of travelers aged 18 to 35. We curate our itineraries for those who enjoy high-energy exploration, shared stays, and a bit of adventure.
Absolutely! A large percentage of our banjaras join solo. Safety—especially for solo female travelers—is our top priority. Our Trip Captains are trained to ensure a secure and inclusive environment for everyone.
To lock your seat, you only need to pay a 10% non-refundable token amount. The remaining balance can be settled comfortably upon your arrival at the starting point of the trip.
The 10% booking token is non-refundable as it goes toward securing your permits and stay. For cancellations of the remaining amount, please refer to our detailed Terms & Conditions page.
Your Trip Captain is your storyteller, logistics manager, and resident photographer. They aren’t just guides; they are part of the group, ensuring everything runs smoothly while keeping the energy high.
While we help facilitate these experiences at the best local rates, adventure activities are typically not included in the base package price. This allows you the flexibility to choose only the thrills you want!
In the mountains, nature calls the shots. In case of Force Majeure (landslides, heavy snow, or government restrictions), we will try our best to provide an alternative plan. However, any additional costs arising from such situations are to be borne by the traveler.
Layers are your best friend! Even in summer, nights can be chilly. For winter trips, heavy woolens, thermal wear, and waterproof shoes are a must. We will send a detailed packing checklist to your WhatsApp group before the trip.
In remote areas like parts of Kashmir, connectivity can be patchy. We recommend carrying a postpaid SIM (BSNL or Airtel usually work best). Think of it as a "digital detox"—the best connections are the ones made with people, not towers!
